Autumn Trends

Although we are in the throws of a heatwave, believe it or not but autumn is only a few weeks away!
Officially starting on 22nd September and running till 21st December, autumn is a season that is a firm favourite for many.
Kids back to school, the migration to living back indoors, pumpkin spice lattes and warm, cosy nights - autumn comes with its own colour palette too.
Traditional rustic hues
When you think of autumn colours, you immediately think of reds, oranges and burnt yellows – these colours the leaves turn just as they start to fall. Scents that work well in autumn include clove and cinnamon, as we start to prepare for Winter and Christmas. Tablescapes in autumn feature lots of red, orange, and some deeper green colours to bring in the outdoors surrounded by plenty of flickering candles and twinkling tealights. Heavy linens and rich gold tableware are perfect for creating a warming and welcoming scene.
Our London Red placemats and coasters work really well at this time of year, and as a bonus can also be used again for the Christmas period, with red a traditional seasonal colour for the most wonderful time of the year!
Opposites attract?
When looking at reds, oranges, and yellows – traditional autumn colours - on a colour wheel, the opposite colours are greens and blues, and these can really pop during autumn! Often considered cold, blue can be a very rich and regal colour offering a new dimension to tablescapes and a contrast to all the colours evolving and changing outside. Green is quite a neutral colour and does lend itself well to autumn, due to the flecks of green still found outside – our Olive Green is a particular favourite this time of year.
Still need a little convincing?
If you wanted to create a different look this autumn for your tablescapes, perhaps consider Royal Blue and all the silver tableware to match. A glass of warming rich red wine on a Royal Blue coaster? Perfect!
